Ugo Rondinone has created his works using universal signs, natural objects, and cultural items. In Dog Days Are Over, a visualization of his main motif, rainbow, “dog days” here alludes to hot summer days or days of hardship, inspired by a hit song sung by Florence and the Machine, a British rock band.
Ugo Rondinone was born from an Italian immigrant family in Switzerland in 1964. He studied in Vienna but presently lives and works in New York City. He was Italian, Swiss, and Austrian and currently American as the best artist of modernism. He has held solo shows at prestigious museums and galleries in New York, Paris, Berlin, London, and Seoul and participated in innumerable biennales and group exhibitions.
