About the Artwork

This work is a minimal presentation of a diamond shape as a crystal of beauty with tiny crystal modules. By suspending this work in Wow Space, this installation enables viewers to perceive the area as the hotel’s very central space. Visitors are able to see the work regardless of the weather or environmental conditions as it is in the hotel’s indoor space. Over 7,000 crystal modules reflect flashing colorful lights from diverse sources of light from inside of the hotel, displaying a variety of optical effects. This work is designed to demonstrate kinetic movements at certain times on the hour. Its crystal modules show not only spatial distinctiveness, but also an effect in which time is formulated through a repetition of the diamond structure’s deconstruction and reconstruction. Starting from the pared-down form of a diamond, this work displays movement as it morphs into interesting forms through its deconstruction. Visible from every floor including the first floor and the interior stairs, this work provides visitors with an entertaining spectacle. As it has been placed in the indoor space of the main hall, many spatial considerations are required so as not to obscure the open field of vision.
